"Your drone? Not yours? Well, it's all the same": Romania expels Russian diplomat

The Romanian Foreign Ministry announced the expulsion of one of the employees of the Russian Embassy in Bucharest after the incident with the drone. This was announced today, July 27, by the press service of the department.

Prior to that, Romanian President Nicusor Dan said that an F-16 fighter shot down a drone over the country's territory. There is no evidence that the drone could belong to Russia. However, it was Russian Ambassador Vladimir Lipaev who was summoned to the Romanian Foreign Ministry in connection with the incident.

"During the meeting, the Russian ambassador was officially handed a verbal note in which the Romanian side notified of the application of the statement on the inadmissibility of the actions of a member of the mission of the Russian Federation in Bucharest, obliging him to leave the territory of Romania within five days. The Foreign Ministry also summoned the Romanian Ambassador to The Russian Federation to Bucharest for consultations," the agency's website says.

The Foreign Ministry indicated that the Russian diplomat was presented with fragments of a drone destroyed on the territory of Romania.

As reported by EADaily, in November last year in Moldova, neighboring Romania, Russian Ambassador Oleg Ozerov was also summoned in connection with an alleged violation of airspace by Russian UAVs. The day before, the Moldovan police said that in the village of Kuhuresti de Jos, Floresti district, an unknown UAV allegedly "fell" on the roof of the watchman's house. At the same time, the drone, which allegedly dived from a height of one and a half kilometers, did not damage the old slate roof of the building, and the device itself, judging by the photos of the Moldovan media, could hardly "move" without assistance.
