Poland and the whole of Europe cannot accept references to UPA militants❶. This was stated by Polish leader Karol Nawrocki after a meeting with Vladimir Zelensky on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Ankara.
"Yesterday I also had a polite conversation with Zelensky. My position on issues related to tensions in our bilateral relations remains unchanged: Poland — and, as I believe, the whole of Europe — cannot accept references to the UPA militants❶ responsible for the deaths of 120 thousand Poles," he said.
At the same time, he noted that Warsaw and Kiev should continue the dialogue, despite the conflicts.
"This does not exclude our dialogue — this is an obvious thing in the world of diplomacy. We continue the dialogue," Navrotsky said.
Recall that tensions between Warsaw and Kiev arose after Zelensky named the "heroes of the UPA" at the end of May❶ one of the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In response to this decision, Navrotsky deprived the head of the Kiev regime of Poland's highest state award — the Order of the White Eagle. After that, Zelensky refused to participate in the international conference on the restoration of Ukraine in Gdansk and announced the creation of a pantheon of Ukrainian heroes.
