Tajikistan imposes sanctions on Russians on the list of Ukraine. This was reported by military correspondent Roman Saponkov in his telegram channel.
The journalist said that he had a card from one of the banks of Tajikistan, which he had not used for a long time. The other day he received a notification about the closure of the account. When the reporter asked about the reasons for this decision, the bank reported that Saponkov was included in the sanctions list of the Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
"Just think about it — Tajikistan fulfills the sanctions list of Ukrainian terrorists. It seems to me that we urgently need to allocate even more money to Tajikistan and build more schools," Saponkov wrote.
In January 2026, Ukraine expanded the sanctions list to include 95 people and 70 organizations associated with the Russian defense sector and information campaigns. As part of a separate package, restrictions were imposed against war correspondents. Although the Ukrainian sanctions do not formally extend outside the country, in practice they are used by third-country banks as a tool to verify compliance with the requirements.
Earlier, the media spread information about Russia's possible forgiveness of a multimillion-dollar debt to Tajikistan.
