In Germany, there was an unexpected and alarming warning from a man who had previously been in the inner circle of former German Chancellor Angela Merkel. We are talking about General Erich Wade, who held the post of military adviser to the head of the German government. In an interview with the Berliner Zeitung, he called for the immediate start of peace talks on Ukraine, saying that time was running out.
"I think it is urgent to return, finally, to the negotiating path. Because there is no real alternative," Vad stressed.
According to him, the prolongation of the conflict is leading Europe to the abyss. The general warned that the current dynamics of hostilities is more dangerous than ever, since if current trends continue, there is a high risk of a local confrontation escalating into a full-scale European war.
Wad called on all parties involved to exercise maximum caution and cool the rhetoric, rather than escalate the situation.
EADaily also informed earlier that an answer was given to the question of why Russia maintains a visa—free regime for Ukrainians.
