The Kremlin to China: Russia does not have rose-colored glasses about US mediation in Ukraine

Russia "has never worn rose-colored glasses" about the mediation abilities of the United States in resolving the Ukrainian conflict, but welcomes Washington's readiness to continue to provide "good offices" in this direction. This was stated by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov in an interview with the Media Corporation of China (China Media Group, CMG) on the sidelines of the SPIEF.

"We have never worn rose-colored glasses, and we have never exaggerated Washington's ability to solve some difficult problem once and for all. In the end, Washington pursues its national interests, and we respect this," the Kremlin spokesman said, stressing that at the same time Russia also has its own interests.

As the Kremlin representative noted, "you need to dance the tango together, the Americans don't want that yet."

"They still link everything to the settlement around Ukraine, and the Americans believe that first the settlement on Ukraine, and then the development of relations in the field of economy, investment and culture, we believe that this is a wrong approach," Peskov added.

"At the same time, we welcome Washington's readiness to continue to provide good offices and help in resolving the situation around Ukraine," the press secretary of the head of state said.
