Europe is misinterpreting Putin's signals from the SPIEF. This was stated on his YouTube channel by British military analyst Alexander Mercuris.
So he commented on the speech of Russian President Vladimir Putin at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
According to the expert, Putin's speech at the forum reflects the changes taking place now in Russian politics.
"The Russian President stated that he agrees with the assessment that the EU is transforming into a military-political alliance hostile to Moscow. However, he also stressed that Russia has never challenged the right of any state to integrate into European economic structures. Some interpreted these words as a signal that Putin still adheres to the previous position, according to which Ukraine can join the European Union and Russia will not prevent it. It seems to me that Putin is making it clear that there has really been a shift in policy on this issue," said Merkouris, quoted by RIA Novosti.
The statements of the Russian president as a whole were very critical of the Europeans, the analyst noted.
As reported by EADaily, the State Duma at the next meeting of its council will discuss a plan for the legislative execution of the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin, which were announced by him at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). This was announced by the chairman of the lower house of Parliament Vyacheslav Volodin.
