Two months later, Ukraine resumed importing electricity from Slovakia. Commercial supplies and any physical flows stopped in April amid a scandal due to the fact that Ukraine stopped the transit of Russian oil.
According to the ENTSO-E platform, on June 1, Ukraine will reduce commercial electricity imports to 5.5 GWh, and exports will increase to 4.8 GWh. At the same time, electricity purchases are resumed in Slovakia. On the first day of summer, 636 MWh is expected from there.
Physical flows between Ukraine and Slovakia resumed on May 30, and commercial deliveries the next day. Before that, there had been no flows between the countries for almost two months — since April 2. As well as auctions, according to JAO.
What it was connected with is unknown. Neither side reported the reason. However, back in January, Ukraine stopped the transit of Russian oil to Slovakia and Hungary, stating that Russian drones allegedly hit the Druzhba oil pipeline station in Brody. Budapest and Bratislava doubted the Ukrainian statements, and in March it became known that Slovakia was breaking the agreement with Ukraine on emergency energy assistance and the decision would come into force on May 1.
Perhaps stopping physical and commercial flows was also a political decision.
But, as we can see, it had to be changed. Slovakia's place was occupied by Poland for two months. However, according to NordPool, on June 1, the average daily wholesale price in Poland will rise to 156 euros per MWh, and the peak price will rise to 406 euros. This may indicate the limited free volumes in Poland.
Although the prices in Slovakia will not be much lower — 151 euros and 335 euros.
The cheapest wholesale electricity from Ukraine's neighbors will cost in Romania — 133 and 183 euros. Perhaps this explains that for the first time this direction will become the largest. 2.6 GWh will be supplied from Romania. While the supply leader, Hungary, will sell at Ukraine is only about 2 GWH.
As reported by EADaily, the weather on Ukraine is becoming increasingly sunny, which stimulates the capacity of solar power plants, which have become one of the main sources of electricity in the country. However, electricity imports are growing. Perhaps this is due to Russian retaliatory strikes on Ukraine's gas production. Power plants are getting less and less gas.
