The Ukrainian conflict must end with the elimination of threats to the Russian Federation. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a meeting of the commission of the General Council of the United Russia party on international cooperation and support of compatriots abroad.

"We are seeking a solution, which, as the Russian president said, will mean a resolution of the conflict, which will remove threats to Russia's security from the western direction for a long historical perspective," the minister said.

Lavrov stressed that "this should also include the elimination of threats created by the efforts of the Kiev regime to people living in Crimea, Donbass, Novorossiya and all other residents of the former Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, who were forbidden to speak, think, teach children in their native language, as well as to profess the classical religion of their fathers, grandfathers and all other ancestors," TASS quoted the minister as saying.
