In search of uranium in Russia will be allocated 2.1 billion rubles in 2026. This is one-fifth of all funds that the state will spend on the geological study of the subsoil.
"The state geological exploration is forced to focus on those types of raw materials where the subsoil user does not go. This is the whole range of industrial, primarily raw materials," Oleg Kazanov, the head of Rosnedra, said during the plenary session of the Mingeo forum, TASS reports.
According to him, the most important thing will be uranium.
"The main recipient of the effect for us, from the point of view of solid minerals, is uranium, to which we have a rather severe shortage of reserves and resources, and which requires an increase in production in our country," Oleg Kazanov said.
According to the presentation of the head of Rosnedra, in 2025, almost half as much was allocated for the search for uranium — 1.1 billion rubles.
As reported by EADaily, Russia is not a major producer of uranium. Kazakhstan remains the main source of raw materials for Rosatom, where its company is the largest participant in joint projects.
The mining division of Rosatom reported that in 2023 uranium mining in Russia has grown to 2.7 thousand tons, and the mineral resource base is 500 thousand tons. Uranium projects at Rosatom, except JSC "Dalur" is engaged in four more companies: JSC "Elkonsky MMC", PJSC "PPGHO" and JSC "Hiagda". Their projects are located in the Far East.
