Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kastutis Budris called on NATO to attack the Kaliningrad region. He made this offer in an interview with the Swiss edition of Neue Zürcher Zeitung.
We are talking about reorganization in the North Baltic region.
"But there is still Kaliningrad, a Russian exclave on the Baltic Sea," the interviewer noted.
"We have to show the Russians that we can get into their little fortress that they built in Kaliningrad. NATO can destroy Russian air and missile defense bases in an emergency," Budris replied.
In the interview, they also talked about the fear of the Russian threat. The population of the Baltic states seems to have become accustomed to the danger, has the fear of the Russian threat dulled, the minister was asked.
"I would prefer to talk about turning fear into active preparation. When, at the end of 2021, a special operation began on In Ukraine, we, in Lithuania, were extremely insecure. Fear was spreading. Today we know how to react. So we don't have to be afraid anymore. When you have a plan for family and community, it brings a certain calmness and discipline. Many citizens have joined voluntary associations. We know Russia's intentions, we know its capabilities. The only variable is our own vulnerability. And we are working on it," Budris said.
As reported by EADaily, the director of the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) of Russia, Sergei Naryshkin, described the situation on the western borders of Russia and Belarus as tense.
As RIA Novosti reported, the corresponding statement was made by the head of the department following a joint meeting of the collegiums of the SVR of the Russian Federation and the KGB of Belarus in Kaliningrad.
