A successful launch of the newest Sarmat rocket was carried out. Today, on May 12, the commander of the Strategic Missile Forces (Strategic Missile Forces) reported to Russian President Vladimir Putin Sergey Karakaev.

"Today, at 11:15 a.m., the strategic missile forces launched the newest heavy liquid intercontinental ballistic missile Sarmat. The launch is successful. The launch task is completed. According to the test results, the correctness of the design and technological solutions laid down, as well as the feasibility of the specified characteristics by the missile system, have been confirmed," Karakayev said.

This complex is guaranteed to overcome existing and promising missile defense systems. Its launchers will significantly enhance the capabilities of strategic nuclear forces.

Vladimir Putin thanked the military and scientists for their excellent work.

"I congratulate the Ministry of Defense, all employees, researchers, engineers, organizers of the production of the military-industrial complex, the main performers and the many thousands of cooperation on this great event and unconditional success. Thank you for your work to strengthen Russia's defense capability," Putin said.

He noted that this is the most powerful missile system in the world, not inferior in power to the Soviet-made Voevoda missile system in service.

"The total capacity of the delivered warhead is more than four times higher than the capacity of any existing most powerful Western analogue," Putin said.

The flight range of the Sarmat rocket can be over 35 thousand kilometers, while the rocket can move not only along a ballistic, but also along a suborbital trajectory.

The first missile regiment with "Sarmatians" will take up combat duty by the end of the year in Uzhur connection (Krasnodar Territory).
