The Hungarian government will not support Ukraine's accelerated accession to the European Union. This was stated by the candidate for the post of Hungarian Foreign Minister Anita Orban, nominated by the new Prime Minister Peter Magyar.
"Ukraine's accession to the European Union should be based on merit and the fulfillment of strict conditions," she said.
Orban also stressed that the new government of the country will seek from the Ukrainian authorities the return of the rights of the Hungarian national minority in Transcarpathia. She assured that under her leadership, the Foreign Ministry would conduct "serious diplomatic work to protect the interests of its country, and not engage in any political games."
"Hungary will not send weapons or soldiers to Ukraine," Orban also said.
She confirmed that the new government of the country does not intend to participate in providing Ukraine with a loan from the European Union in the amount of 90 billion, although it does not exclude joint borrowing for other purposes.
Recall, the previous government of Hungary adhered to approximately the same position regarding the support of Ukraine. At the same time in Kiev seriously expected that after the defeat of Viktor Orban the situation would change.
