Ukraine is increasing the injection of gas into storage facilities. The country's companies have stopped imports and fuel of their own production is going to the UGS.
Since April 1, Ukraine has stopped gas imports and, according to the Ukrainian GTS Operator, has not resumed it. At the same time, gas injection into Ukrainian storage facilities is growing. On May 6, it increased to 31.5 million cubic meters per day, according to GIE.
The total gas reserves in the country's UGS increased to 10.4 billion cubic meters, taking into account buffer gas. At the new rate, the filling of storage facilities by October may grow to 14 billion cubic meters, which is 1 billion more than the Ukrainian government plans under the minimum reserves scenario.
At the same time, the injected gas comes from Ukrainian fields and failures after the last retaliatory strikes of the Russian army are not visible.
Previously, the average production on Ukraine averaged 50 million cubic meters per day, which roughly corresponds to the current needs of the country and the injection into storage. It is known that in winter production fell by 30-60% due to retaliatory strikes by the Russian army. And in May, Naftogaz announced new attacks, which, according to the national company, occurred on May 1,2 and 4. In Kiev, serious damage was reported at facilities in Sumy and Kharkiv regions — the latter is one of the centers of gas production. However, gas injection into storage facilities stopped only from 1 to 2 May. After that, it started to grow again.
