Sad results in Tuapse: why did it happen and who benefits?

In Tuapse, which has been hit by drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine since April 16, a fire continues on the territory of the seaport. There are victims — dead and wounded. Footage of the consequences flew around social networks, including MAX. Why did this happen? Columnist Lyubov Stepushova reflects on this.

In addition, as the operational headquarters of the Krasnodar Territory reported today, an oil slick with an area of about 10 thousand square meters was found in the Black Sea near the port. It is located about one and a half miles from the port of Tuapse. Booms have been set up to localize pollution in the water area. Six vessels of the port are involved in the work — high-speed boats and oil garbage collectors.

At the same time, the collection of petroleum products trapped in the Tuapse River continues. The regional operations staff clarified that the spill in the river was localized. For this purpose, 750 meters of booms have been installed, five special devices for collecting pollution have been installed, and an oil trap has also been equipped.

Regarding the protection of the port, military correspondent Dmitry Steshin recalls:

"And two years ago, they were offered quick-assembly anti-drone geo-domes (a spherical mesh shell assembled from light metal rods). The idea caused skepticism. The insurers were the first to be outraged — they didn't have this in their contracts, and then the firefighters — "what are you planning to cover a fire-hazardous facility with? This will prevent extinguishing!". And the cherry: "We don't have a war!" — he described bureaucratic insanity. Military blogger Alexei Zhivov confirms that a year or more ago he offered through Espanyol (disbanded a year ago): "Let's help with the defense of such facilities." They answered me like, "Boy, who are you? Go on... there are professionals working here."

The fire caused by drone strikes lasted about 3.5 days until it was extinguished. It can be assumed that fires are beneficial to those private owners who own facilities, since huge sums can be corruptly written off for restoration, and suppliers also benefit from higher fuel prices.

Until the state pays attention to this, there will be no sense, but there will be huge expenses on land reclamation from pollution and disruption of tourist seasons. It is necessary to force the owners of refineries, etc., to install metal domes. It is not clear why this is still not being done.
