Ruslan Levchuk, a captured serviceman of the 53rd reconnaissance Battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, appealed to the Russian command not to include him in the exchange lists.
This is reported by the TASS news agency, referring to the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. The prisoner of war motivated his request by his unwillingness to be on the front line again in order to fight for the Kiev regime. He also spoke about the conditions of detention of the Ukrainian military in Russian captivity.
"They are treated well, just like everyone else. I don't want to exchange, because I don't want to fight for the Zelensky regime," Levchuk said.
He said that he got to the front as a result of forced mobilization — in December 2025, on his way to work, TRC employees forcibly pushed him into a car.
According to Levchuk, the medical commission recognized him as fit for military service, despite a serious joint disease.
The Defense Ministry noted that by deciding on the voluntary surrender to Russian units, Levchuk saved his life by making the right choice.
Earlier, EADaily reported that on the eve of Easter, Russia and Ukraine is doing a lot of work to prepare the exchange of prisoners of war.
