In the event that South Korea supplies weapons to the Kiev regime, Moscow will have to take adequate retaliatory measures against Seoul.
Such a warning was voiced in an interview with the agency on Saturday, March 28, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Andrei Rudenko.
Thus, he commented on the information that South Korea is exploring the possibility of participating in the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) program for the purchase of weapons for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The diplomat stressed that Moscow has consistently conveyed to Seoul through various channels Russia's principled position on the inadmissibility of the Republic of Korea's participation in direct and indirect pumping of lethal weapons to the Kiev regime, including as part of the PURL initiative.
"Otherwise, bilateral relations between Russia and Kazakhstan may be seriously affected, and we will be forced to take retaliatory measures. I hope that we will not have to take such steps," the Deputy Foreign Minister said.
He noted that the Russian side records "the emerging drift of South Korea towards NATO in the military sphere, within the framework of which the Republic of Korea is assisting in the rearmament of a number of alliance member countries providing military assistance to Ukraine."
Earlier, EADaily reported that the Pentagon is considering the possibility of transferring weapons originally intended for Ukraine to the Middle East to continue the military operation against Iran. We are talking, among other things, about interceptor missiles that European NATO countries purchased from Washington under the PURL program for subsequent transfer to Kiev.
