The situation around Nord Streams in connection with the sanctions is legally complicated, but Gazprom retains ownership of the pipes. This was stated to journalists by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.
Nord Streams was an international company with the participation of foreign companies. Many of them came out. The ownership of these pipes remains, it belongs to our company, Gazprom," Peskov stated, answering a question about the desire of the United States to take control of the global energy sector.
"In connection with the sanctions, which we consider illegal from the point of view of international law, of course, there is a difficult situation in legal terms," the Kremlin spokesman said.
As Peskov noted, "of course, the situation is difficult in legal terms."
"The main thing is that they are idle. One is destroyed, it deteriorates from day to day. Aggressive marine environment. But the fact that the United States tends to take control of the international energy infrastructure is obvious," he concluded.
