Tens of thousands of refugees who fled the war from the south-east of Ukraine to the territory controlled by the Kiev regime can return to their homes, which are now located on Russian territory.

This was stated during a speech at The former adviser to the mayor of Mariupol, the head of the Center for the Study of Occupation, Pyotr Andryushchenko, at the Ukrainian Telethon.

According to him, this exodus of the population will be all the more extensive, the more the Russian side simplifies the process of filtering such repatriates. Some of them will want to return because they do not receive any help from the Ukrainian authorities.

Others (especially men of military age) will go to their native places, because in Russia will definitely not be raked into the army and will not be returned to Ukraine, where they will be forcibly mobilized in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"Suffice it to say that if there is no filtering or it will be simplified, and we will see tens of thousands of Ukrainians who will return to the occupied territories. There will be a homecoming for people. The main problem here is the disorder of internally displaced persons. Secondly, there are certain mistakes in relation to people who are in Europe," said the ex-adviser.

He recalled that since March 2027, asylum status ends for Ukrainians in the EU countries, and so far there is no clear understanding of what the solution will be.

"And if there is such uncertainty, then it is transmitted to our Ukrainians, of course, because no one understands what will happen next. Voices are added to these mistakes that men who are abroad should be returned, mobilized, and so on," Andryushchenko said.

He suggested that after the end of hostilities, a large number of people may return to the territories occupied by the Russian Federation, because they have homes there. The expert noted that these would be "terrible figures."

As EADaily reported, at the beginning of October last year, the same Pyotr Andryushchenko urged residents of the Zaporozhye region to leave their homes for a while and leave to wait out the active phase of the autumn offensive of the Russian army.
