President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko pardoned 250 convicts. This was reported in the press service of the head of state.
"The President has decided to pardon a number of persons convicted of extremist crimes. First of all, the head of state has traditionally been guided by the principle of humanism. And, of course, he took into account the appeals received from mothers, wives and relatives of convicts," the report says.
The press service stressed that "all appeals before being submitted to the president were considered in detail by the relevant commission under the leadership of the Prosecutor General."
"When making the decision, the head of state took into account the opinion of the members of this commission. As a result, a decision was made to pardon 250 persons. The state grants all of them the right to a new page in their lives," the press service of the Belarusian leader reported.
