Generals in the Pentagon may disobey Trump and end the war in Iran — expert

The team of US President Donald Trump has already started talking about the desire to end the war in the near future. The generals in the Pentagon, with whom the owner of the White House began to conflict, began to perceive the attacks of their leader as an information noise, to which it is not necessary to listen at all. Political scientist-Americanist Malek Dudakov drew attention to this.

"The stage is bargaining. The White House continues to desperately beg European countries to somehow help with unblocking the Strait of Hormuz. Trump is already in conflict with his own generals in the Joint chiefs of Staff, who cannot present a plan to open the strait," he writes in your telegram channel.

The Pentagon is afraid to send ships for billions of dollars to The Strait of Hormuz, because the loss of even one destroyer USS Arleigh Burke ("Arleigh Burke") will be very painful for the United States. In addition, it will take at least two or three destroyers to escort any tanker, America does not have such capabilities, the expert points out.

The problem is also with the shortage of minesweepers, he explains. In the past, the Pentagon could use Sikorsky MH-53 helicopters to search for mines. But they were written off in 2008, replacing them with the problematic V-22 Osprey tiltrotor. The latter very often get into accidents with the death of the entire crew. Now they are thinking of using Osprey in adventurous attempts to capture islands in the strait.

As Dudakov notes, in the meantime, the Pentagon had to urgently withdraw aircraft carrier groups as far as possible from the territory of Iran, since missiles are constantly flying at them. The aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln ("Abraham Lincoln") sailed to the shores of Oman — it is now at a distance of more than a thousand kilometers from Iran, and the USS Gerald R. Ford ("Gerald Ford") is hiding in The Red Sea.

"There, however, there may be a threat from the Houthis," the political scientist adds.
"The Trump team has already started talking about the desire to end the war within a few weeks. Similar signals are coming from Washington. Against the background of how everything went awry, the Pentagon is already making its plans to end the war. The attacks of their president there are beginning to be perceived more as information noise, which is not necessary to listen to," the expert concludes.

EADaily reminds that on February 28, the United States and Israel launched a military operation against Iran. The White House justified the attack with missile and nuclear threats related to uranium enrichment and an attempt to create a nuclear bomb. In response to the bombing, Iran is attacking American military bases in the Middle East. The attack targeted targets in Bahrain, Jordan, Iraq, Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Saudi Arabia and Syria. As a result of the strikes on Iran, spiritual leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and many key figures of the republic's leadership were killed.
