The Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation has decided to extradite Vasil Rodideal, a citizen of this country, to the Romanian authorities, who was arrested in March 2025 in the Russian Federation at the request of Interpol.
The defendant is accused in his homeland of committing serious crimes. The decision to extradite him was confirmed to RIA Novosti by Rodideal's lawyer Lilia Mamasheva.
According to her, the defense appealed this decision, but the court of first instance upheld it. An appeal has also been filed, its consideration has not yet been scheduled.
The lawyer explained that if the Court of Appeal agrees with the lower instance, "extradition can be expected." At the same time, Rodidal himself, who has been held in a Russian pre-trial detention center for more than a year, would like to stay in Russia, the defender emphasized.
According to the agency, during the investigation it turned out that the wanted Romanian citizen lived in Russia under a false name — Vasily Kravtsov. It was possible to establish his true identity by fingerprints.
It is known that Vasil Rodideal was sentenced to 12.5 years in prison in his homeland for creating and supporting an organized criminal group, illegal possession of ammunition intended for military weapons, as well as for unjustified incitement to commit murder.
As EADaily reported, the attacker managed to escape from Romanian justice, so he was put on the international wanted list. At the end of February, he was detained in the Russian capital.
