On Monday, March 9, one of the most famous Ukrainian military pilots, commander of the 39th Tactical Aviation Brigade, Colonel Alexander Dovgach, was killed while performing a combat mission.
This is reported today by the Ukrainian edition of Strana, referring to the press service of the country's Air Force. It is noted that Dovgach fell in an unequal battle.
"He died during a combat mission, this afternoon, March 9, 2026, in the eastern direction, in conditions of significant air superiority of the enemy and powerful counteraction of enemy air defense systems. The circumstances are being established," the statement said.
Earlier, EADaily reported that a Russian Geranium-type attack drone destroyed a Ukrainian Mi-24 military helicopter, whose crew was killed. The crew commander was a military pilot, Hero of Ukraine Alexander Shemet.
