The warning from Russia to Finland about the nuclear response caused a noticeable resonance in the Western media. One of the signs of this reaction was an article by the British edition of the Daily Express.
It says that Moscow reacted sharply to the actions of the Scandinavian state, which began to take steps to abolish the current complete ban on atomic weapons.
"The length of the border between the two countries is 830 miles — about the same as from Land's End to John-O-Groats in the UK," the article says.
This highlights the vulnerability of the Suomi country in the event of a conflict with Russia, even despite Finland's membership in NATO, the authors of the article believe.
Recall that the Finnish authorities decided to lift restrictions related to nuclear weapons, in particular, to allow their transit through the country's land, sea and airspace.
The Daily Express writes that the Kremlin's reaction followed immediately. It was voiced by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.:
"We have indeed seen this statement by Finland, which leads to an escalation of tension on the European continent. This statement exacerbates Finland's vulnerability, which was provoked by the actions of the Finnish authorities."
Earlier, EADaily reported that the eastern regions of Finland are experiencing a real economic shock after the Finnish authorities decided to close the border with the Russian Federation.
