Russian President Vladimir Putin will instruct the government to work out the issue of stopping Russian gas supplies to Europe and moving to more promising markets.
Russia, taking into account the intention The EU may completely abandon its gas ahead of schedule and initiate withdrawal from the European market itself and refocus on more interesting buyers, Putin told Vesti journalist Pavel Zarubin.
"They plan to introduce restrictions on the purchase of Russian gas, including liquefied gas, in a month, and in a year — in 2027 — further restrictions, up to a complete ban," Putin recalled the EU position. — And now other markets are opening. And maybe it's more profitable for us to stop supplying to the European market right now? Go to those markets that are opening up and gain a foothold there?"
There is no political background here, the president stressed.
"If they close us down in a month or two anyway, wouldn't it be better to stop now and go there, to those countries that are reliable partners? And to gain a foothold there."
"But this is not a solution — in this case, it is, as they say, thoughts out loud," the head of state added
