As of February 16, the fees for the adaptation of Alexander Pushkin's fairy tale amounted to 665.2 million rubles. In the first four days, the picture was watched by about 1.5 million viewers.
"The picture had an obvious potential to break into the lead. However, there is always a lottery with records, and the fact that we have set a new one is certainly a great victory for all Russian cinema. It is necessary to wait for the final score on the scoreboard, but the "Tale of Tsar Saltan" has excellent prospects. Absolutely, the picture will collect one and a half billion," said Tina Kandelaki, director of the TNT channel and Deputy General Director of Gazprom Media Holding.
As EADaily reported, the thriller "The Maid" by Paul Fig collected more than a billion rubles in a month of Russian rental. Fees for the month amounted to 1.013 billion rubles. The picture was watched by 1.759 million viewers. Thus, "The Maid" became the second Western release, the fees of which exceeded a billion rubles after the Hollywood majors of the industry left Russia.
