Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov said that by dismissing the head of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) of the republic Kamchybek Tashiev, he prevented a civil conflict in the country that could escalate into an attempted coup. He stated this in an interview with the Kabar agency.
According to Zhaparov, some parliamentary groups called deputies and asked a direct question: "Are you on our side or on that side?". At the same time, it was meant that one side is the side of the general (Tashiev), the other is the president. Then this division passed to the aksakals (elders).
"They started collecting signatures demanding early elections and began to mislead the public, stating that they had coordinated their actions with higher authorities. If I didn't take decisive steps urgently, this would spread to ordinary people, and people would start splitting up again. I have facts that deputies and some civil servants were threatened by the general: "If you don't come over to our side, you will deal with the general." Therefore, such a decision was made," the President of the Kyrgyz Republic said.
Before that, according to his confession, he called Tashiev, whom he considers his friend, explained the situation, told him that he was firing him.
"I believe that by making such a quick decision, I saved my friend's life, because these aksakals were leading my friend off the right path. Hiding behind Kamchybek Tashiev, they began to appeal to deputies, responsible government officials and prominent figures of society, urging them to "go over to the side of the general." If I had not fired Kamchybek Tashiyev, their efforts would have caused a split among those who work in the state structure and in society, there could have been conflicts. Stability in the state is above all," said Japarov.
Recall, on February 10, by the decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, Tashiyev was dismissed. He himself was being treated in Germany at that moment. And, according to his confession, the incident came as a complete surprise to him.
A day later, three of Tashiyev's four deputies were relieved of their posts. This was followed by the detention of a number of public figures and former officials. According to some reports, special forces units began to gather in Bishkek.
Tashiyev himself, in his address to the people, called on the society to calm down, stating the inadmissibility of destabilizing the country.
