In recent years, the level of professionalism of actors in Russia has been "falling, falling and falling." This is due to the disaster of vocational education, which is happening now, said Honored Artist of Russia, Acting rector of the Moscow Art Theater School Konstantin Bogomolov in Vadim Vernik's project "Acting Studio".

"I think we are facing some kind of storm, a thunderstorm… Still here, where we are standing, fine, well, a little colder, a little breeze. And there is already a terrible hurricane raging. And we are not really aware of the extent of the catastrophe that will come upon us in another 5-10 years," he believes.

According to Bogomolov, less and less trained people come out of theatrical "higher and better" educational institutions every year.

"I say it clearly. I've been watching acting shows since the early 2010s and now for the last six years on Bronnaya. Every spring I watch 20-25 shows from all over the country. And I can say that every year it is more and more catastrophic," the head of the two Moscow theaters is sure.

The drama lies not only in the lack of training, but the problem is also that they are not given an understanding of what an actor's work on himself is, what this profession is, what efforts it requires.

Then Bogomolov turned to the issue of reforming theatrical education and gave an example of where it should begin.

"Starting with the fact that, for example, not a single student can pass a test session, it's not fake, but really passing art history, music history, French... And he gets a test, or a three, or a four, and then people come who don't have the most important skill for self—improvement," the director emphasized..
"They sometimes read and do not understand the words that are pronounced by Chekhov, Turgenev, Tolstoy, Dostoevsky — they really do not know them," added Bogomolov.

As reported by EADaily, on January 23, Russian Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova announced that Bogomolov had been appointed rector of the Moscow Art Theater Studio school in the status of acting.

The Honored Artist of Russia Igor Zolotovitsky, who previously headed the university for almost 23 years, died on January 14.

Bogomolov's appointment caused criticism in acting circles, an open letter was issued to Lyubimova asking her to reconsider the decision on the appointment, which was supported by Mariana Spivak, Anton Shagin, Yevgeny Shishkin, Yulia Vitruk, Daniil Feofanov, Ulyana Mikhailova, Yulia Menshova, as well as a long-time teacher of the studio school, professor, theater and film actor, People's Artist Russia's Avant-garde Leontiev.

The Ministry of Culture responded to the criticism, stating that Bogomolov "meets the qualification requirements" and also has the necessary competencies to be appointed head of an educational organization.

The department also recalled that he will head the university in the status of acting until the election of the rector of the Studio School.

Later, a message appeared on the official website of the School-studio that Bogomolov would be the artistic director of the acting course.
