Daria Klishina, the silver medalist of the World Championship and the European champion in long jump, who left for the USA, was outraged that her apartment issued by the government of the Tver region was seized and handed over to a serviceman. State Duma deputy Svetlana Zhurova, commenting on the current situation, expressed the opinion that the athlete could have lost her apartment due to the fact that the living space is not hers, but municipal property.

Earlier, Klishina complained about the seizure of her apartment in an interview with sports blogger Viktor Kravchenko, published on his YouTube channel.

"If a person does not live in the country and does not speak for the region, then it is necessary to look at the legal form, how this apartment stood out. Maybe it was issued from the housing stock, because apartments are also issued from it to children participating in SMO, teachers, doctors, young professionals, and large families. Did Klishina manage to arrange this apartment, if she was given this living space on social loan. If it had been her own apartment, it would hardly have been taken away from her. But this is definitely not a question for the federal authorities," the TASS deputy noted.

According to her, as far as she is aware, "if people go abroad, they must show that they have no property."

"This is done if a person wants to obtain citizenship or a residence permit in other countries, as I was told,— Zhurova continued. — She could have arranged an apartment for someone else, and now this apartment has been taken away from that person, it's not hers. We do not know such nuances, plus she could not pay for utilities for a long time. But they definitely didn't take her apartment away from her because she went to America, and I wouldn't have presented it like that."

Klishina, a pupil of the Tver athletics school, is 35 years old. Trained in Tver, after the eighth grade of school — in Moscow. Throughout her professional career, she has represented Moscow and Tver region, since 2013 trained and lived in the USA, but always played for Russia. The main achievement of her career was the silver medal of the 2017 World Championships in London, she was a participant in the Olympic Games of 2016 and 2021. Games in Tokyo was the last tournament of her career, then in qualifying she suffered a leg injury and had to leave the stadium in a wheelchair. She is currently the mother of two children and continues to live in the USA.
