Russia is ready to transfer $1 billion from frozen Russian assets to the Peace Council right now. This was stated by President Vladimir Putin at a meeting with members of the Security Council of the Russian Federation.
"Even now, even before we resolve the issue of participation in the composition and in the work of the Peace Council itself, given Russia's special relations with the Palestinian people, we could, I think, send to"Peace Council"1 billion US dollars from Russian assets frozen under the previous US administration," Putin said.
According to the Russian president, the remaining funds from the same assets frozen in the United States could be after the conclusion of a peace treaty between Russia and Ukraine should be sent to restore the territories affected during the hostilities.
"I plan to discuss all these issues with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, with whom we will have talks tomorrow, as well as with American representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, who are also coming to Moscow tomorrow to continue the dialogue on the Ukrainian settlement," Putin added.
He confirmed that Russia had received a personal invitation from US President Donald Trump to join the new international structure created on his initiative — the Peace Council.
"As for our participation in "At the Peace Council," the Russian Foreign Ministry was instructed to study the documents received by us, consult with our strategic partners on this matter, and only after that we will be able to respond to the invitation given to us," the Russian leader stressed.
