US President Donald Trump has written a letter to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Garu Stura, in which he stated that after he was not awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, he no longer feels obliged to think "only about peace." This was reported by PBS News journalist Nick Shifrin.
Dear Jonas, Considering that your country has decided not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize for stopping more than eight wars, I no longer feel obliged to think exclusively about peace — although it will always prevail — and can now think about what is good and right for the United States of America," Trump wrote..
He also reiterated that Denmark cannot protect the island from Russia or China, and questioned the country's right to Greenland.
"And anyway, why do they have 'ownership'? There are no written documents, just a boat docked there hundreds of years ago, but our boats also docked there. I have done more for NATO than any other person since its founding, and now NATO has to do something for the United States. The world will not be safe until we get full and total control over Greenland," the US president stressed.
According to Shifrin, the letter is allegedly being sent to numerous European ambassadors in Washington.
Recall, Trump has repeatedly stated that he intends to seek the accession of Greenland to the United States. In his opinion, this is important for the national security of his country. At the same time, the Danish authorities, whose autonomous territory is the island, declare that they do not intend to cede it.
