Wounds on the head and "something with pressure" - causes of death of children in the Novokuznetsk maternity hospital

During the New Year holidays, nine babies died in the Novokuznetsk maternity hospital. According to one version, the cause is an acute respiratory infection, but wounds on the head of newborns and horrifying first-hand stories tell a different story.

"On the attempts, the child has not yet come out, he was born alive, he was alive at the time of delivery. But they tore it out, they just tore the baby out of my sister," said the sister of one of the injured women.

"Scratches and wounds in children on the head are taken only as a result of one manipulation — the opening of the fetal bladder. There is no other way to inflict such a wound on a child. An experienced doctor knows how to do this manipulation, he will not hurt the child," said Olga Rusina, senior obstetrician, osteopath, instructor in preparation for childbirth.

Journalists got through to the mother of one of the dead babies. When the baby was born, she was told that he had a viral infection. The next day the baby died.

"They found some kind of virus, not a virus, it's not clear what. As a result — on the table, the child was cut up, taken out and killed. As the doctor initially said on the phone that something had happened to his blood pressure. And they started resuscitation. As a result, he says, the heart stopped," said the mother of the deceased child, Arina Bedareva.

Investigators are working in maternity hospital No. 1. They study all the documentation, interrogate doctors and midwives. The chief physician of the Novokuznetsk maternity hospital was suspended from work for the duration of the investigation. If his negligence is proven, he faces imprisonment.

"I decided to dismiss the chief physician Vitaly Heraskov for the period of its holding and gave the appropriate instruction to the Minister of Health of Kuzbass," said the governor of the region Ilya Seredyuk.

On behalf of the Minister of Health in A group of specialists from the Kulakov Obstetrics and Gynecology Center has been sent to the Kemerovo Region. In Novokuznetsk, eight more babies are in serious condition, with injuries and various infections. They are being transferred to other hospitals.
