Germany is not a ball in the hands of superpowers. This was stated by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in a New Year's address to citizens.
"We are not victims of external circumstances. We are not a game ball in the hands of great powers," the Chancellor said.
At the same time, he noted that 2026 could be a decisive year for Germany and Europe, when they will begin decades of peace, freedom and prosperity with renewed vigor.
Merz became the most unpopular chancellor in the history of Germany. Under him, the country's economy and its international realist status have been seriously undermined. This was largely due to Berlin's strategy on the Ukrainian conflict.
