The "coalition of the willing" is being transferred to the Greenland Front. Political scientist Vladimir Kornilov writes about this in the telegram channel "Especially for RT".
"You won't believe it, but for the second day now, the European press has practically forgotten about Ukraine! And no, this is not related to the Christmas holidays: newspapers continue to be published, journalists continue to make reports and fan panic in connection with the coming war. But now the front has suddenly moved much to the west and north — in Greenland! Moreover, no one has forgotten about the "Russian threat" anyway. However, now it is completely unclear which side the European "coalition of the willing" will be on," the expert wrote.
According to him, Donald Trump's appointment of Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry to the post of special representative of the US president in Greenland caused a strong reaction in Europe on the eve of the holidays. The Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet asks the question: why does the US president appoint a special representative in such circumstances? The answer is obvious: when there is a war and it is urgently necessary to resolve the conflict. However, in this case it is not about resolving the conflict, but about provoking it.
"Moreover, the American side does not hide its goals. Trump found the only explanation for why he chose a governor without any international or diplomatic experience for the post of special representative, uttering one phrase: "Louisiana purchase." Well, yes, in 1803, the Americans bought Louisiana from the French in crisis for ridiculous money — about seven cents per hectare. But, to be honest, the current governor of this state had nothing to do with that deal. I hope the owner of the White House is aware," the expert further writes.
He noted that Landry thanked Trump for his trust, saying that it was a great honor for him to serve the president "in this unpaid position to make Greenland part of the United States."
"Then followed the incredible hysteria of European governments. Denmark immediately called Washington's actions "unacceptable" and promised to invite the US ambassador — oh, the brave souls! The young Prime Minister of Greenland itself, Jens-Frederik Nielsen, made a militant statement: "I will fight for our freedom!“ However, he did not explain how. I remember Copenhagen recently allocated money to Greenlanders for additional dog sleds — will they help?", Kornilov continued.
After that, Macron, according to him, immediately recalled his "solidarity visit" to Nuuk, where, forgetting that the island is a Danish colony, he declared that "Greenland belongs to its people!".
"And his Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jean-Noel Barraud, generally got into a fighting rage, demonstrating the wonders of his geographical knowledge: "Greenland is a European territory." Which seems to have surprised the Greenlanders themselves, located at a decent distance from Europe. But as soon as the first screams of the Europeans subsided, Trump threw extra wood on this fire," Kornilov concluded.
