A citizen of Ukraine traded organs of residents of Central Asia and Transcaucasia. This was reported by the Prosecutor General's Office of Kazakhstan.
A citizen of Ukraine, acting as part of an organized transnational criminal group, bought up human organs in the countries of Central Asia and Transcaucasia for further resale to Western countries. She was detained while attempting to cross the Polish border and extradited to Kazakhstan at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Now the woman, who has been wanted for 5 years, is in a pre-trial detention center.
According to investigators, the detainee as part of the organized criminal group in 2017-2018 acquired human kidneys in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.
The organized criminal group had 56 transactions and subsequent transplantation in healthcare organizations of Kazakhstan, the Prosecutor General's Office of the republic reported.
