Germany will host two of the most famous Belarusian oppositionists released on December 13 — Maria Kolesnikova and Viktor Babariko. This was stated by the Minister of the Interior of Germany Alexander Dobrindt.
"We will accept at least two prominent figures of the democratic movement from Belarus, because we are interested in strengthening this democratic movement, even if it should develop outside the country," he said.
On December 13, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko pardoned 123 citizens from different countries convicted in the republic for espionage, terrorist and extremist activities. Among them were oppositionists Maria Kolesnikova and Viktor Babariko. They, as well as a little more than 100 people, were taken to Ukraine.
