Russian hackers have stolen hundreds of thousands of confidential NHS documents in Britain — the country's National Health Service — some of which relate to British and foreign royalty, senior judges and members of the House of Lords. It is reported by the newspaper The Mail on Sunday.

"An unprecedented data leak, one of the largest affecting the medical service, led to the fact that 169,000 confidential documents were thrown into the darknet after a gang of ransomware took advantage of a bug in the software provided to NHS organizations by the American technology giant Oracle. Many of those affected by the leak are private NHS patients with high status, some data on the accounts of Barts NHS Health Trust in In London, they are associated with unnamed patients from royal residences, including the official home of King Charles — Clarence House, Buckingham Palace, Sandringham and Windsor Castle," writes the Daily Mail.

It is unclear which members of the royal family were affected by the leak, but it raised serious concerns about the safety of the court's medical data, as Charles III continues to be treated for an undisclosed form of cancer, the publication says. The BBC, Premier League football clubs, British aristocrats, a member of the Bahraini royal family and billionaire businessmen were also affected by the hack.

It is noted that the leak occurred exactly after cybersecurity experts warned in October that Oracle software used by the NHS and The Ministry of Finance and Treasury is "vulnerable to Russian hackers" and that hacking attempts are "very likely."

The British were skeptical about this information.

"It doesn't make sense. VIP Royals addresses are not used by the NHS. Russians? Really? My NHS records have been tampered with since 1998, including faking blood tests, concealing cancer. Have the Russians been doing this since 1998?" — Susan Chester from Eastbourne commented on the publication, in particular.
