The Belgian Finance Ministry refused to comment on the claim of the Central Bank of Russia against Euroclear

The press service of the Ministry of Finance of Belgium refused to comment on the lawsuit against the Euroclear depository filed today, December 12, by the Central Bank of Russia. The Central Bank of the Russian Federation insists on the return of blocked assets and compensation for losses, RIA Novosti reports.

"The amount of damage is made up of the amount of blocked funds of the Bank of Russia and the value of blocked securities and lost profits," the Central Bank of the Russian Federation said in a release without specifying the amount of the claim.

As reported by EADaily, the Central Bank of the Russian Federation stated that the plans of the European Commission (EC) for the use of assets The Russian Federation is illegal, contradicts international law, violates the sovereign immunity of assets. Therefore, Russia reserves the right to proceed to the implementation of all available legal mechanisms for the protection of interests without notice. The Bank of Russia will challenge any actions of the EC entailing the uncoordinated use of its assets in all available competent authorities.

In the statements of the European Commission regarding the use of Russian assets blocked in Euroclear, we are talking about an amount of 210 billion euros.
