The meeting of the US president's special envoy Steve Witkoff with the head of the Kiev regime Vladimir Zelensky in Turkey was canceled after it became clear that the Ukrainian leader was not interested in discussing Donald Trump's peace plan. This is reported by Axios, citing sources.
According to the American official, Zelensky arrived in Turkey with his plan, developed jointly with European partners, which "Russia will never accept."
Another US representative said that the reason for the postponement of the meeting was, among other things, the internal political situation on the Ukraine, in particular, the corruption scandal in which Zelensky's closest advisers are involved. Donald Trump authorized Witkoff to try to reach an agreement with Zelensky in Turkey and supported the decision to cancel the meeting when it became obvious that there would be no progress, the source said.
"Now we will wait. The ball is on Zelensky's side," said the US representative, quoted by "Время.иа ".
Zelensky may come to Washington to discuss a new American peace plan, if it makes such a decision, he added.
A Ukrainian official, meanwhile, told the publication that the meeting was postponed after Zelensky's proposal to discuss a peace plan with the participation of European partners.
As reported by EADaily, the Russian-American settlement plan for the Ukrainian conflict is actually a capitulation of Ukraine. This was stated in the social network X by The Financial Times journalist Christopher Miller.
