The West has two scenarios of reaction to the corruption scandal in Kiev — opinion

Currently in Europe there is a process of determining in relation to Ukraine in connection with the corruption scandal, which the media dubbed the "Mindich case."

According to the Ukrainian edition of Strana, some kind of reaction is inevitable, but it is not yet clear whether it will be purely formal, or whether real shifts will take place in the position of the West.

In Ukraine, it is believed that clarity on this issue will be provided by the meeting of the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, with French President Emmanuel Macron, to be held on Monday, November 17.

"Zelensky's meeting with Macron on Monday will be indicative from the point of view of defining the policy of Europeans regarding the unfolding in There is no corruption scandal in Ukraine," the agency writes.

It is expected that this topic will become the main topic in the conversation, since a number of European countries have already supported the actions of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), which launched an investigation as part of its Midas operation.

"Therefore, Europeans are unlikely to be able to simply ignore the scandal, limiting themselves to general statements," the publication predicts.

According to the authors, there are two options here. The first is to make a commitment from Zelensky to send officials who were caught up in the scandal to jail, to write and approve a program to combat corruption and increase the transparency of departments in state—owned companies.

The second option is tougher — the Europeans may require Zelensky to reboot the entire team. To dismiss Yermak and the Sviridenko government, replacing them with some "understandable" people to the West.

It is not known, however, whether the Europeans will want to go to such an aggravation, given that it is now dangerous to completely "drown" Zelya and his team amid failures at the front.

"Moreover, the corruption scandal may expand even further, moving, for example, to the sphere of military procurement (which NABU is actually announcing in plain text)," the publication concludes.
