The Colombian Air Force bombed in the immediate vicinity of the border with Venezuela. This is reported by France-Presse (AFP) with reference to a source in the country's Ministry of Defense.
It is specified that the target of the attack was the militants of the Colombian rebel group, whose main source of funding is drug trafficking.
"The Colombian military conducted bombardments near the Venezuelan border, nine rebels were killed," the source said.
At the same time, he did not specify which rebel group the militants belonged to.
According to AFP, the operation was carried out in the Colombian department of Arauca. The attack was carried out as part of the Colombian authorities' fight against drug cartels, which was announced by the country's president Gustavo Petro.
It is also known that this is not the first act of this war. This week, the Colombian Air Force carried out bomb attacks in the Amazon region, which killed 19 militants.
The dead were part of the FARC armed group, which broke away from the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia rebel army.
Earlier, EADaily reported that Colombia suspended all contacts with US security services due to American strikes on ships in the Caribbean. This was announced by President Gustavo Petro.
