Three US Army soldiers who disappeared during exercises in Lithuania have been found dead. This is reported by the command of the US Army in Europe and Africa.
"Three American soldiers... were found dead in Lithuania today, March 31. The soldiers, whose identities are not disclosed until the next of kin are notified, disappeared early in the morning of March 25 in their M88A2 Hercules BREM during an operation to repair and tow an immobilized tactical vehicle," a press release quoted by RIA Novosti said.
It is noted that the search for the fourth continues.
As EADaily reported, the Lithuanian Prosecutor General told reporters that she had launched an investigation into the deaths of American soldiers.
Despite the fact that information about the deaths of American soldiers in the armored Hercules has not yet been officially released, the Lithuanian prosecutor's office said it had launched an investigation into the circumstances of their deaths. In fact, this means that the corpses of Americans have been identified.
Early this morning, the Hercules armored personnel carrier was recovered from the swamp six days after it fell to a depth of five meters.
