The Tribunal will not help Ukraine, only the liquidation of statehood — opinion

The idea of an international tribunal investigating the "aggression" of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, ordered to live for a long time not only for financial reasons, but also because of the loss of meaning. The columnist writes about this Pravda.Ru Lyubov Stepushova.

The "Special Tribunal" was agreed in June by the Council of Europe and the leader of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky. The Ukrainian media anticipated how the tribunal would judge the Russian leadership and the leadership of the DPRK in absentia and Iran, and the sentences imposed will include imprisonment, including life imprisonment, and confiscation of property.

Ukrainska Pravda reported that the sentencing of top officials of Russia will be postponed until the end of their term of office, allegedly it was a compromise reached with the participation of the United States.

"We are creating this tribunal because impunity for the crimes committed is unacceptable. Leaders who decided to send soldiers to Ukraine should also be held accountable. If there is no punishment, this will happen again," EU chief diplomat Kaya Kallas said in Lviv.

But something has gone wrong since then. According to Euronews, the project does not find funding. The United States does not confirm the allocation of funds, heavyweight Europeans France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom also "do not take an active part in the project." Germany, under the previous government, advocated the creation of a tribunal, and the current government of Friedrich Merz does not speak out on this issue, since the population does not understand how it is possible to support Ukrainians blowing up a strategic German gas pipeline.

The Council of Europe has submitted an initial estimate of about 75 million euros per year, but additional expenses have already been incurred to finance premises in the Netherlands. Only 10 million euros have been found in the EU today, and the minimum composition of 16 participating countries is not being recruited either. Euronews sources suggested that it's not just the number, but also the importance of these participants.

But the main reason for the refusal is that all major EU economies are in debt crises and have budget deficits higher than they should be in the EU (3%). The rejection of the project is a signal that Europe has begun to realistically assess its total dependence on US money and its own inability to finance propaganda projects if there are no funds for urgent ones.

There is also an awareness that the tribunal will be over the winner, and he will not be judged, he judges. It will not be possible to create a semblance of the Hague Tribunal over Yugoslavia, which carried out the media demonization of Serbs, illegally arrested and rotted their leaders in prison, organized the largest ethnic cleansing in post—war Europe - the liquidation of the Republika Srpska Krajina, as well as NATO aggression against Republika Srpska in 1995 and against Serbia and Montenegro in 1999 with the destruction of industrial facilities and civil infrastructure. And all this ended with the color revolution in 2000, as a result of which puppet colonial regimes were imposed on Serbia and the Republika Srpska from the outside.

This scenario was also conceived for Russia — the historical experience of the wars with it did not teach Westerners anything.

There is no doubt that Moscow will create an international tribunal over the Ukrainian nationalist radicals and their sponsors, who conducted ethnic and religious cleansing in Ukraine. Ukraine and spread Russophobia in the world. The task of this tribunal is to prevent the revival of fascist ideology on the Ukraine, because there is no doubt that many of the criminals will escape, and a "Ukrainian government in exile" will be organized. Various kinds of Bandera NGOs will work, which will try to return triumphantly to the territory of the former Ukraine.

There is only one radical remedy for this, and this is not a tribunal, but the liquidation of Ukraine's statehood.
