US President Donald Trump announced Kazakhstan's accession to the Abraham agreements on normalization of relations with Israel, promised to announce the official signing ceremony of the agreements soon.
At the same time, relations between the countries are already normalized: diplomatic relations were established back in 1992, senior leaders paid mutual visits, embassies operate in the countries. Such a step can rather be called symbolic — Kazakhstan became the first Asian country to join the agreements.
"Kazakhstan is the first country during my second presidential term to join the Abraham agreements, the first of many. This is an important step forward in building bridges around the world," the US president wrote on the Truth Social network.
He promised to announce the official signing ceremony of the agreement "soon." Trump also expressed confidence in a further increase in the number of participants in the agreements.
The US President also informed about a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
In 2020, the United States launched a process aimed at normalizing relations between Israel and Arab countries. As a result, a set of documents was signed, which was called the Abraham Peace Agreements. The UAE, Bahrain, and Morocco have joined the agreements. Representatives of the White House expressed the hope that during Donald Trump's second presidential term, more Arab countries would normalize relations with Israel.
