The Polish authorities are forcing their citizens to pay interest on Ukraine's debts. This was stated by the leader of the coalition of nationalists and Eurosceptics "Confederation", deputy of the Sejm Grzegorz Placek.
"It turns out that, given the rapidly growing budget deficit and public debt, we, Polish taxpayers, will contribute to the repayment of the Ukrainian debt for years? Have we lost our minds? This is clearly anti—Polish rhetoric!", he wrote.
The parliamentarian referred to the data of the Ministry of Finance of Poland, according to which Warsaw plans to pay interest totaling almost $ 30 million to Ukrainian creditors this year and similar amounts in the next two years. He also noted that the loan agreement between Ukraine and the European Commission stipulates the repayment by Poland of interest on the Ukrainian loan, subject to the annual submission by Ukraine of an application to Brussels.
"Applications for 2026 and 2027 have not yet been submitted, but the Ministry of Finance already knows that we will pay interest, although in So far, no one has even asked for help in Kiev!" — Plachek was indignant.
Recall that the financial situation of Ukraine is in a deplorable state. Earlier, the British Economist magazine reported that Kiev may run out of money for the war in February 2026, as two of the three sources — the United States and loans — are running out, and Europe cannot agree among itself. At the same time, even if the EU confiscates Russian assets, these funds will still not be enough to cover the necessary $ 390 billion for the next four years, during which Kiev plans to conduct military operations.
