US President Donald Trump has revised his position on supporting Ukraine, causing concern among allies in Europe, the American Fox News channel reports.
"President Donald Trump's tone towards Ukraine has softened dramatically in recent weeks ... Trump now seems to be much less eager to help Kiev or force an end to the war," the report said.
The channel notes that the recent actions of the head of the White House, including the withdrawal of the American brigade from Romania and the refusal to provide Vladimir Zelensky with Tomahawk cruise missiles, are causing confusion among European allies who cannot predict his next step.
"Although Trump claims that his administration seeks peace "through force," his recent actions and rhetoric paint a more complex picture, forcing allies to guess which version of Trump's policy towards Ukraine will prevail in the next stage," the TV channel notes.
At the same time, the meeting of the American leader with Chinese President Xi Jinping also demonstrated that Trump has moved away from tough demands on Ukraine and is ready to discuss it in a less insistent tone.
The meeting took place in Busan, South Korea. The US president said the Ukrainian crisis was discussed during the event, and the leaders agreed to work together to resolve the conflict. At the same time, according to the American leader, the issue of oil was not raised at the event.
Earlier, at a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Trump said that only the United States knows how to use Tomahawk and will not share this knowledge with anyone.
