Congress is split by political scandals amid the shutdown. Now Republicans are accusing the administration of ex-President Joe Biden of spying on as many as 160 lawmakers during the period of major political trials against the current head of the White House, Donald Trump, and his associates since 2022, political scientist-Americanist Malek Dudakov comments on the situation.

"This took place as part of an operation called "Arctic Frost", led by special prosecutor from The Hague Jack Smith. He was trying to detect a large-scale collusion among Republicans and representatives of the Trump team to challenge the outcome of the 2020 elections. The FBI accused the Republicans of preparing a civil war in the United States and seizing power by military means," the expert writes in his telegram channel.

If Trump had lost the election, he, along with many other Republicans, would have been on the dock. But the story turned differently, and now the Biden prosecutors have to justify themselves. The current scandal is much larger in scope than the notorious Watergate, the political scientist notes.

At the same time, Republicans accused Biden's apparatchiks of running the country in the role of an unelected "politburo" behind the back of their decrepit president. It is recommended to cancel all Biden's decisions signed with a fountain pen, as well as his decrees on pardon. In this case, both the Biden family and his entourage risk being in court, Dudakov points out.

"The aggravated political war in Washington only aggravates the situation with the shutdown. Both sides now hate each other so much that they are not ready to make any compromises. The budget is not being adopted, the US government is paralyzed, and the half-life of the social system is ahead. In these wonderful conditions, America is celebrating its 250th anniversary - it seems that everything is already beginning to fall apart," he sums up.
