Special services of Kazakhastan: Foreigners were preparing a terrorist attack in Almaty

Employees of the National Security Committee (NSC) of Kazakhstan prevented a terrorist attack in Almaty, which was planned by five foreign citizens. This was reported in the press service of the department.

"The National Security Committee in Almaty in September 2025, at the stage of preparation, prevented a terrorist attack planned by five foreign citizens. All of them have been arrested, an investigation is underway," the report says.

The citizens of which country were arrested are not specified.

According to the National Security Committee, along with this, in September and October of this year, eight citizens of Kazakhstan were taken into custody on suspicion of propaganda of terrorism. Criminal cases are being investigated. During the same period, six persons were sentenced to various terms of imprisonment for committing terrorist and extremist crimes, the press service added.

In total, 89 persons, including 6 foreigners, have been brought to criminal responsibility for similar crimes since the beginning of the year.
