The property and other assets of the former chief personnel officer of the Russian Defense Ministry, General Yuri Kuznetsov, and his affiliates worth 500 million rubles have been arrested, a source familiar with the case told RIA Novosti.
"The property and assets of Kuznetsov and his affiliates totaling approximately 500 million rubles have been arrested," the agency's interlocutor said.
Earlier, the Prosecutor General's Office estimated the property of Kuznetsov and his family at this amount, and a lawsuit was filed to turn assets into state income.
According to the Investigative Committee, in 2021-2023, Kuznetsov, holding the position of head of the Eighth Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, received a bribe from Krasnodar businessman Leva Martirosyan in the form of a land plot and a building for actions in the interests of the bribe giver. Initially, their cost was estimated at 30.5 million rubles.
Kuznetsov and Martirosyan have been in jail since May 2024. The investigation of the case has been completed.
Mikhail Karapetyan, Martirosyan's lawyer, told RIA Novosti that half of the plot, which the investigation imputes to Martirosyan as a bribe, was paid by Kuznetsov's wife personally, the materials contain payment documents from the bank and receipts dating from 2020-2021 on the payment of land and money transfers for the construction of a house for Kuznetsov, which the businessman was engaged in.
