It's time to stop flirting with the Trump administration, the political scientist warned

Donald Trump on the cover of The Times

The biggest difficulty of working with the current American administration is that President Donald Trump does not adequately assess the current state of affairs in the international arena and still believes that he is living in a "moment of unipolarity" that has already gone. This was stated by political scientist Alexei Pilko following the results of the agreement on peace in the Gas sector.

"The desire to return the non-refundable in one jerk can be expensive and The United States, and the whole world. And Trump will definitely try to do this, especially after the Gas peace agreement, which he perceives as the first step in resolving other conflicts," Pilko believes.

He notes that now Russia's position is far from weak, however, in his opinion, "what is missing is only the decision to gradually play its strongest card" — the modernized and largest nuclear arsenal in the world.

"This does not mean its immediate application, which would be unwise. But this should mean a clearly demonstrated readiness to use nuclear weapons in the event of continued forceful pressure from the United States," Pilko believes.

He believes that "it is necessary to stop flirting with the Trump administration."

"It is necessary to make it clear to her that the formula "peace through strength", which she raised to the banners at the suggestion of the Brussels bureaucracy, will eventually lead to only one thing: a nuclear war between Russia and the United States. Until this is done, the United States will raise the stakes with impunity and sooner or later may come to the conclusion that the concept of a global disarming strike against Russia may make sense," Pilko said.
