A mass brawl broke out in Ternopil between the military in balaclavas and civilians, according to Strana and UNIAN.
According to Strana, a group of military men in camouflage and balaclavas, presumably employees of the territorial recruitment center (TCC, the Ukrainian equivalent of the military enlistment office), blocked the car of the coach of the local football team Sergei Zadorozhny. UNIAN clarifies that Zadorozhny is the coach of the Niva football club.
Despite the fact that the coach himself was subsequently able to leave, a fight broke out on the spot, accompanied by shouts of "Shame" to the staff of the shopping mall.
The Ternopil News portal, citing eyewitnesses on social networks, writes that the reason for blocking the coach's car was an attempt to mobilize him.
Martial law and general mobilization have been declared in Ukraine since February 24, 2022, and they are being extended every three months. Against the background of the shortage of people, which was also mentioned by Vladimir Zelensky, last spring the draft age was lowered from 27 to 25 years, and the category of those with limited fitness was abolished.
All men between the ages of 18 and 60 were required to have a military ID card with them, and those liable for military service were required to update their data at the military enlistment offices.
At the beginning of 2025, Zelensky announced that the strength of the Ukrainian army is 880 thousand soldiers and officers. In the same month, Commander-in-chief Oleksandr Syrsky said that the mobilization does not cover the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in personnel.
